The Batman, one of the earliest Batman movies ever made which was in 1943, left a lot to be desired, especially when it came to its costumes. The costume didn’t fit well on the Caped Crusader, and his bat horns even looked like they came from the devil itself, it looked closer to that than the actual horns of a bat. Lewis Wilson, the actor who played Bruce Wayne and Batman, was amusing, but he really didn’t do much to endear his character to peoples hearts. When it comes to the Batman films, it seems as if they get better over time, which is good news to all Batman fans out there. If you loved the previous Batman movies, then it could be safe to bet that the next ones would be greater.

Batmans batsuit, which has been donned by a number of lucky actors such as George Clooney and Christian Bale, has its origins in an unpleasant event during the heroes young life. When he was merely six years of age, he fell down a cavern underneath the Wayne Manor which was filled to the full with live, flying and shrieking bats. This harrowing event forever stuck with Bruce Wayne, and is widely believed to be the reason behind the Batsuit which he wears to hide his identity and whose appearance strikes fear even in the darkest and most evil of criminal hearts.

The Batman series revolves around Bruce Wayne, a philanthropist millionaire whose main companion is his butler. He gets fed up with the crimes in Gotham city, and this leads him to become Batman, the cape-and-cowl-donning crime fighter who is out to get the criminals who abuse the innocent and spread their evil. The Batman series is one of the most popular franchises, and this increased when live action movies were made based on it, such as Batman Begins, Batman Returns and Batman Forever. Some actors who have played the elusive part were George Clooney, Christian Bale and Michael Keaton. The movie versions of Batman insures that the Caped Crusader is not losing his pull as one of the major super heroes ever.

When Warner Bros asked Chris Nolan to direct and revive its Batman franchise, it was a match sure to be a hit. Both the Batman fils and Nolan seemed to gel well together, and this, in turn, resulted to amazing Batman movies to come out, one of which was Batman Begins, with actor Christian Bale cast in the lead role. Nolan said that he grew up knowing Batman, and this showed in the movies as him having an in depth knowledge of the Cape Crusaders psyche. In his hands, the Batman movies were revived and made fresh, his discerningly creative eye adding new twists to the franchise.

Michael Keaton played Batman in Batman (1989) and in Batman Returns (1992), and well, he was not particularly good in portraying the caped crusader. On thing though that could be commended on his performance is how he set the standard for Batmans voice, which was followed by the other actors after him who also played this role. Other than that, Keaton left much to be desired when even he could not decide how to play the role properly. He was not able to put a unifying character to his role, an underlying theme which would’ve made Batman more stable as a hero.

For the 2005 Batman Movie, Batman Begins, many fans were ecstatic that Christian Bale was cast in the lead role of Bruce Wayne. He did not merely wear the suit and act in it; he actually became his character. Bale was perfect in portraying the millionaire and the crime fighter, convincingly playing both parts. He balanced the two acts; being the normal man and hero at the same time. Probably one of the best actors ever to portray the bat hero, Christian Bale showed the audience all the rage and drive that Batman was feeling, and at the same time showed the loneliness of Bruce Wayne.
